Goes is a small town with an old town centre. It is in the province of Zeeland in the southwest of the Netherlands. This province is surrounded by water and experienced severe flooding in the 1950s. After the floods, an impressive structure of dykes and dams was built to protect the region from the sea: the Delta Works.
